Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny. -- Upanishads

Who is that person blocking my dreams? My goals. I can't see - I think I'm scared of her. She's holding me back with her brute force. Oh wait - that's me. Darn it. If it was someone else - I could pummel them.
How am I supposed to pummel myself down so I can move on?
Why do I get in my own way?
Do you ever have these recurring thought patterns that hold you back?
For instance -
"I can't"
"I Could never..."
"I am so afraid of..."
"That's me - I won't chnage."
"I can't change."
"It will NEVER happen."

Are you always wanting more? Wanting things to be different? Wanting to change whatever is happening? Are you never satisfied? "I CAN'T GET NO - SATISFACTION...HEY HEY HEY HEY." (Rolling Stones reference - insert Micks big mouth here.)
So - do you have contentment?
Is it possible?
The path of yoga involves being CONTENT (Santosa) with whatever is happening.
If things are going good - bad or average - You have contentment, and accept whatever is.
Can you do that in the yoga class?
Are you o.k. with stumbling in your balance poses?

There's something that brings you to your yoga mat time and time again. Is someone forcing you? (Maybe sometimes!) Or is there a spark inside you that gets you off your butt and in the yoga room? For me, it's become a habit.
If I miss a day of yoga, my body craves it. I have created a habit. It's like brushing your teeth. If you miss a day - your mouth feels like a fur ball and slimy. If I miss a day of yoga - I feel stuck. My energy is a bit trapped.
So is that what gets you on your yoga mat? Habit?

Is it LOVE for yoga?
Do you want a physical result?

Do you always leave yoga class early? Are you always rushing to yoga? While you are in yoga - are you thinking about future plans, or your "to do" list? Is your brain on OVERDRIVE?
It seems that a lot of people lately have been leaving class early. If you have to rush somewhere - why are you coming in the first place?
Yoga is about slowing down the pace a bit. Getting out of your head and staying connected to the present moment.

Most of us watched the Olympics, cheering and rooting for Canadian athletes while we had a beer in one hand, burger in the other.(Maybe that was just me.)
Anyway, I'm sure that these athletes want to inspire us to DO BETTER in our own lives and health/fitness goals.
Those athletes train so hard and dedicate most of their lives to reach new goals and inspire others to reach new goals.
So, what can you take away from all this?
How can you do better?
What makes you feel good, and healthy?
It is coming to a yoga practice 3 times a week? Is it eating more healthy foods?

The verdict is in! The best part of the Olympic games in Vancouver was the UNITY! You just had to go downtown (or anywhere near) and feel it, and see it. We were wearing red. We were all there for the same purpose. To cheer and support and get that Olympic spirit.
It was said by media that they had never seen such pride and unity and excitement at any other Olympic games before.
That's very cool.
For me, one of the big tests that I was into the hype was - I wanted to go and be with the big crowds. Almost every day!

Have you seen that FREE Zip Line across Robson Square? Have you seen the 6 hour line-up? Have you ever met anyone crazy enough to wait and then ZIP? Well, it's nice to meet you! Yes, I waited 6 hours. Yes I ZIPPED Across Robson Square. Was it worth the wait?
Yes! There were 1000 other people waiting with me, and I'm sure every one of those people thought it was worth the wait. Except for the girl in front of me who backed out when she got up there!!! She looked down and said "NOPE - Not doin' it!!"

The local pub during the big game filled with spirit and SPIRITS (Bubbly) The Canadian who performed after her Mom's sudden and recent death. She did that with SPIRIT. The Olympians who give everything they have. Filled with spirit. YOU IN HOT YOGA???
IN SPIRIT.
You are INSPIRED to come and show up on your mat.
Something makes you get off your butt and come to yoga.
That's spirit.
That's INSPIRATION.
You inspire yourself because you are filled with SPIRIT.
We all have it.
Sometimes it's buried - but you can always find it.

As soon as you hit ROBSON SQUARE downtown - ANYTIME - PEOPLE! You learn to like people pretty fast - or you suffer! I've been downtown 5 times to check things out and Saturday was the most people I have ever seen in the downtown core. It's the PERFECT CHANCE TO PRACTICE YOGA!
Not breaking into DOWN DOG - but practicing the essence of yoga.
PATIENCE
CALM
CENTER
AWARENESS
NOTICING
SHINING BRIGHTER
BEING MORE OPEN
NOTICING YOUR REACTIONS
RESPONDING WITH LIGHT
That's the essence of yoga.
What you shine out you reflect back!
If you haven't been there yet - try it.

The online schdule has a NEW DESIGN. This means that when you try and see the classes - sometimes it only shows the HOT classes. Some of the classes may be missing. HOW CAN YOU FIX THIS?
When you get to the schedule page, make sure on the top right you have selected ALL CLASS TYPES. So if the page only selects HOT - it will only show the hot classes.
So, select ALL CLASS TYPES, and then all the classes should show up for you. Let us know if you come across any other glitches.
Thanks!
