Are you an addict - or do you have a habit?

For the BEST YOU EVER SUMMER 2009 - Week one was give up something for 1 week that was not adding to the best you ever. Mine was coffee. And anger. Giving up coffee was easy, until I got angry on Tuesday.
Darn it.
Anyway - I am happy to report that I did not give in to the wanting of the coffee with double cream double sugar. Because a wonderful angel named Camille saved me, and told me to get Hot Chocolate instead.
It worked.
After that, I started drinking green tea and herbal tea as a substitute.
It's day 6 now, and I have not had any coffee, and I won't. When Monday comes around, I may not have any coffee. It was only for a week.
What I realized was that I am not addicted. I was tired the first couple days and had a headache - but after that I realized it was just the habit of taking that trip to Timmys that I was used to.
Daily.
I just didn't go in to my coffee place this week, that's all. And subbed in a different hot bevy.
I created a NEW, BETTER HABIT.
Boom - problem solved.
So - is there something you do every day that is a HABIT that you really don't need in your life?
Maybe you just need a week to create a NEW habit, and forget the old one.
It's worth a try if you can improve your self and your life.
Now, about the anger thing...
Maybe I'll try again some other week.
I have to give up driving though.
Darn driving.
