Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny. -- Upanishads

Have you ever really dedicated yourself to your health? - (The chocolate bacon wrapped french fry diet does not count as dedication.)
2009 has a nice ring to it, don't you think? It may be time to investigate and try to dedicate yourself to turning your health and fitness around to sweet lovin feelin darn good land.

2009 is the year to dedicate your time and energy to your health and fitness.

Dedication to your yoga practice. CREATING the time to go to yoga and if you create the time, you will make the time!

If you already are a dedicated yogi - then re-commit yourself to your dedicated practice. Or maybe dedicate all your hard work and energy from your personal practice to someone in your life that could use that powerful healthy strength and energy.

Create a yoga journal. After every class, write down how you feel after class, what improvements you are seeing or want to see, and what you want to work on for next class.

It takes 3 weeks to create a habit, so before January 1st, get the journal and then take a class on New Years Day and start jotting down your progress and your evolution in your practice.

You will amaze your fabulous self...and when 2010 rolls around you can take a look back at your dedication to your yoga practice, your body, mind and spirit. Then you can give yourself a big kiss and hug.

      Oh yes.

      Dedicate good times come on!

      Peace
      Andrea

      ...Thank you Andrea...YOU are awesome!

I wanted to add one more thing. It is something that you often remind us of in your classes. I believe it is something to be paid attention to not just within those steamy walls, but also as we go about living our lives. You often say "Let Go of the Fear!" I LOVE it when you say that! In that room the fear for me is often Not about being afraid of the pose "hurting me" - it is more about Letting Go PERIOD! My body and mind are often tentative and your reminder helps me to Breathe, pull my attention inward and relax. If I am Present, it's Gonna be OK! and most likely much Better than ok!

So Yes! to moving forward fearlessly! To venture into unknown territory with your eyes and heart wide open. To feel the vitality that sparks within your body as you test New Ground...ahhhh so Alive!

At 54 I went x-country skiing for the first time last weekend! Never skied before - and no Lessons! So freaking out of my world! Long wooden sticks bolted to my feet on an icy slope?! "Are you Freaking KIDDING me?!!!" but I Just Went for it and I had an absolute Blast! More time Down than Up (thank gawd for all the yoga - no injuries!)...So much laughter - so proud of myself when I was done. Totally fantastic day! I let Go of the fear and rode the edge.

I've also just recently made a massive business decision. I had been pulled up short because I was afraid of hurting my business partners feelings if I moved on, and honestly I've been Afraid of what I would do next. Looked inside, realized I wanted to grow and Made the Jump. Said Goodbye. Almost instantly the World was mine again - my fear of losing my friends ended up being Very unfounded and in the end we have all been given a new opportunity to grow. I let go of that Fear and I am Free!

In yoga it could be as simple as not being fearful of your teacher's response when you ask a "silly" question - cause you Know it's going to help you both. For Teacher's I imagine it could be facing feedback from a student and asking Directly in exactly what way their classes could better meet that students needs and not being fearful of that dialogue. Another wonderful opportunity to create a very rewarding outcome.

We often make life so Needlessly Scary! Rife with emotion! Where does all that fear Come from?! Be Gone I say!

A little verbose there but you get my drift! That'll be My credo for the upcoming years. Let Go of the Fear! Doesn't it sound exciting?!

Here's to Fabulous Fearless Fumblings in 2009!

Thanks Andrea - See you in class!
