Happy Holidays & Be Good to yourself from the Rambler!

I Love this time of the year, 6 more sleeps till Christmas and Friday is the first day of Winter. Buildings and trees are lit up, people are generally quite happy and most of us are consuming waaay too much chocolates/sugar;-) Not to mention I have a month off school, thus I have a lot of time on my hand to relax and chill.

However, the BIG question is do I “chill”? Well, if you are my parents’ children, we do not understand the word “chill/relax”. I was brought up in a family where we were kept busy all the time, studying, working, exercising, cleaning the house or eating. Now, you would think that after practicing yoga & meditation for years, I have learned how to “chill!” But noooo…I decided to fill my days off with stuff that “needed to be done”, “with people I need to see, etc.” So what happens when we do not listen to our bodies? I will tell you what happens….First I popped out my ribs, was in considerable pain for a week, and just as I was getting better, (are you ready for this?)…I got the 24 hours stomach flu that knocked the wind out of me (Trust me, it is not something you would wished on your worse enemy). So I took it easy for a week and took 2 days off. Yes it’s true, I finally “listened” to my body after some intense warning. (Hee Hee)

As you get busy in the next few days buying gifts, travel to see your family or lining up in the supermarket buying groceries to make dinner, remember to take some time out for yourself. Take a few hours to just relax and chill.

Happy Holidays everyone! It has been an honour meeting you this year and the Rambling will continue in 2008 ;-)

      New Year 2008!!

Change yourself this year! Conquer fear this year. As you ponder what your New Year's resolution should be try not to second guess yourself or play it safe. Consider the age-old debate, "What's the best way to get into a cold swimming pool?" Do you splash water on your shoulders or jump right in, getting wet all at once? Jumping right in is the best approach but far too often, fear of the unknown keeps us wading in the shallow end.

Fear is a fundamental emotion that all human beings use for natural survival. It is mostly built through environmental situations. A situation causes a negative effect; when we face that situation again we fear it. Our heart rate increases, we start to sweat, our muscles tense and shake. Fears can be rational or irrational. They can keep our bodies safe from harm but they can also keep our brain from taking risks.

You choose…. This is your year!!
