Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny. -- Upanishads

It doesn't matter if they have a "better standing bow" than you.

It doesn't matter if they have a "better standing bow" than you.

"Wow, look at her...I can't bend back as far as she can - I suck." "Oh brother, I don't have his body - why bother?" "My fat is hanging out, and she is so skinny." "I can't balance in tree like everyone else can."

What is up with this COMPARE game? When you are in the yoga room - you are there for yourself, your body, your practice, your yoga poses. Are you focusing on yourself, or the person in front of you, or beside you?

Are you comparing your body to someone else? Are you comparing your skill level with someone else? Are you bad mouthing yourself in your head?

Save the compare game for another time.

You brought yourself to the yoga room. You are there to work on yourself, your body, your spirit, your benefit!

Check your ego at the door.

The ego is not only about thinking you are better than someone. The ego sometimes also makes you feel inferior to others, and not as good as someone else.

You are good. You are doing the best you can with what you got, with the skill level you are at, and you are there!

That compare game to others is defeating the purpose of your yoga practice. It is bringing in the wrong kind of energy into your body. It is chippping away at the spirit - the fire, the light inside of you that is trying to break free.

With practice, you will become the most fabulous version of yourself that you can be.

Nobody else in the entire universe has what you have.

So - respect that, by leaving your ego at the door - quit comparing yourself to anyone else, and focus on developing your yoga, your body, your mind and your spirit.

Check out YOUR very own standing bow in the mirror and shine on.

      Peace
      Andrea
