Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny. -- Upanishads

Jump in - the waters fine

After coming back from Hawaii, I couldn't imagine myself jumping into our cold dark ocean water. I mean come on, they have turquoise warm bath water for an ocean. BUT - when the heat rises, and you need some relief - there's a huge swimming pool from nature...you just have to have COURAGE!
So, yesterday I baked in the sun for a while, and watched all the brave people wander into the frigid, causing shrinkage ocean water of White Rock.
I thought to myself - "No. Not gonna happen!"
BUT - then I started to melt. The sun was melting my bikini, and all the hot yoga I teach and take of course does not prepare me for the melting of the hot summer sun.
So as the minutes went by - I realized something...
I have to grow some balls and just jump in that water!
In all my yoga classes I tell students
"You are way stronger than you think!"
"Don't let fear hold you back!"
"You can do anything!"
So - I better walk the freakin walk, hey?
I grew a pair - walked to the edge, and put my feet in.
It felt good.
A little further - to the waist.
Cold? No - REFRESHING! It's all a state of mind.
So I jumped all in baby!
And it felt great.
Others around me were screaming and squealing "OH MY GOD IT'S SO COLD!!"
But - Was it really? It's all perception, right?
One persons cold is another persons REFRESHING
I was proud of myself.
I braved the waters, and the payoff was sweet.
Next time you talk yourself out of something - Notice if you could change your mind or perception, and do it anyways!
You may surprise yourself.
Sometimes you just have to grow a pair!
Peace
Andrea
