What if a teacher decided to play music during your hot yoga class? How would you react? Would you get really angry and say that you will never come back to that studio, and resist the music, and feel rage and scrunch your face and mind up into a tiny little ball?

I witnessed this resistance the other day. A student got so upset with the thought of music playing during the hot yoga class, and even threatened to not practice at the studio anymore.
Wow. Does it really matter? Could you try to accept all conditions? Is it possible to open up a window in the prison of the mind box and experience something new?

I am a teacher and a student of hot yoga, and many other forms of yoga. To me, music adds to the experience. Also, I am the type of person that will go into a yoga class, and ACCEPT all conditions. I just go with it. Whatever teacher it is, whatever music is playing, whatever people are around, smells, or anything. I am there to focus on my practice, and those outside external factors are just a test for me to stay connected with my own body, mind and spirit during practice.

I think the more you resist something, the more tight you become. Your face, your body, your heart and spirit.

Hot yoga helps to make you loose, and flexible, and open to change. Hot yoga and all forms of yoga help to release tension and tightness and stress from the body and joints.

It is up to you to discover how you can do the same thing with your mind and spirit while you are practicing. How can you stay open, flexible and free?

The first step is to accept and remain open to all conditions in the yoga room. Maybe that is your test for the practice. The temperature of the room, the teacher, the other students, the light in the room, and yes even some music playing while you practice...

      JUST GO WITH IT.

      What are you resisting for?

      Peace,
      Andrea
