Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny. -- Upanishads

Peace in the yoga pose.

Triangle pose in hot yoga. It makes people angry. Dragon pose in Yin. People breath fire. Side plank for 30 seconds in Flow class. Arghhh. So, where the heck is the peace in the yoga pose?
Have you ever had anger bubble up when you are holding a yoga pose? Especially if the teacher decides to hold you in it for 5 years?
It makes you want to come out of the pose early, right? (Or shoot the teacher)
Well - GOOD NEWS.
There is peace in every yoga pose.
Even the pose that makes you want to rip off your yoga clothes and throw them at the chiseled yoga body practicing in front of you that seems to be floating on a peace cloud of cotton candy yogaville.
When you come to a yoga pose that challenges you, breathe calmly, and visualize or feel going right into the center of your body.
It's similar to the eye in the center of a hurricane or tornado.
You focus on that center point, and see if you can internally sit there, or internally watch the center of your body, and start to become that center.
You will sit in the middle, in the midst of whatever is going on in the yoga pose.
You don't travel to the top of the storm which are your thoughts - in your head.
You move all your focus and attention to the center of the thought storm.
And there is where you will find your peace.
So, next time you are in a yoga pose that challenges you, and you feel your head boiling and ready to blow -
Breathe and go to your center and find the cool point of peace.
Peace out
Andrea
