Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny. -- Upanishads

Each time you are in your Dhanurasana(Standing Bow), do you compare yourself with the person beside you or the person ahead of you? Do you have the urge to kick higher or hold the pose longer than the person next to you? Or do you even compare today's practice to the practice yesterday or the one last week? When you start comparing, the practice becomes a competition and not a practice anymore. The mirrors in the studio is a tool to guide us through the practice. It help us to practice with better alignment, focus, and a better meditative state. No two standing bow will look exactly the same. We all have different bodies and different bones structures. So each time you start to compare, remind yourself that each pracitce is new practice. And afterall, it is call a yoga practice and not a yoga competition. Namaste.
