Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny. -- Upanishads

Tuesday Night, 8pm. Should we talk about your feet today? oh...why not?
Our feet allows us to balance, take long walks, run, hike, wear beautiful shoes (sometimes painful shoes), get pedicures and our feet is the main grounding for our yoga practice.
Take a look at your feet, from your big toes to the pinkies. Are they big, which one is longer, can you spread your toes, do you have flat feet, do they hurt when you put weight on them? Now, take your right hand and give your left foot a nice, long massage. (Repeat on the left side)
Personally, I love love love my feet. I am size 8 - 9, I can spread my toes (and I mean all of them), and I just love the way they feel when I put weight on them, whether it is in a yoga class, when walking barefoot on the beach or getting a foot massage from my guy ;-)
My yoga practice deepened when I started paying attention to my feet. I became aware of where the balance is on my feet. Am I balancing on the edges, are my toes gripping the mat, or is the weight distributed evenly on my whole foot.
Next time you are practicing, ask yourself the above questions and bring awareness to your feet. You will find that the postures change when you relax your toes and ground your feet to the mat evenly.
Until next time, be good to your feet and enjoy the beautiful weather.
