Ex-banker now Student/Yogini/Yoga Teacher So…That’s my life in 7 words (now is ex-banker one word or 2?) I am sitting here with my partner wondering what I should write today and we decided that I should tell you about some my favorite postures. (one per week) Now, the deal is I just got off the phone with my mother who lives in Singapore and although I love my mother(& dad) to bits, after every phone call with her, I need to take my favorite posture, Savasana. (Deep Breathing included!) My mother is always on my case about why I am not married and she is still quite confused why I left a high-paying career to be a yoga teacher and to study Traditional Chinese Medicine. I promise I will explain it to you beautiful souls one day when I see you at the studio. Back to Savasana (Dead Corpse Pose). I love this posture because it allows our bodies to rest, recharge and most importantly, it has a calming effect on our minds. This posture if done correctly, will stimulate blood circulation and will help to relieve fatigue, nervousness and insomnia. It will also improve one’s mental concentration. In my opinion, this posture is necessary and important because we lead such busy lives, often walking down the street talking on our cell phones, eating on the run, constantly running to-do lists through our heads (groceries, laundry, wine list for party etc.) Savasana allows us to quiet our bodies, both physically and mentally. Next time at the end of your class, stay in Final Savasana for at least 5 min, focus on your breaths and notice the change in your body, mind and spirit. Your Chinese-Unmarried (yet)-Very Happy-Yoga Teacher signing out! Roger & Out! (I am going to lie down) ;-)
