Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny. -- Upanishads

Have you ever done something just because someone else wanted you to? Or went in a direction you knew was not "YOU" but you did it anyway? That is a loss of your INTEGRITY. And integrity is what you want to keep in yoga.

If you are in a class and come to a yoga pose, you have to check in with yourself, and decide where you want to go today.

You can't compromise the integrity of the pose or the integrity of yourself for the teacher or any other yoga students around you.

You stay connected to your edges, your comfort zone, your alignment...and you stay safe and strong honoring the important parts of yourself.

Your natural curves, your aligned spine and energy flow through the hips. You respect the edges of your body and then the spirit.

Then from there, you enjoy and find the essence of the pose from where you are.

You don't expect anything from any pose or anyone...but you stay on your path or inquiry in the pose and do that inner work that takes you the furthest in your practice.

So, the TEACHER can only guide you somewhere - but you STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF AND MODIFY, PLAY WITH YOUR EDGES AND stay true to the integrity of your true self.

In yoga poses and in life.

      Peace
      Andrea
