Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny. -- Upanishads

Thinking too much in yoga class? Close the POP UPS!

So, you are in the HALF MOON pose, and you are not awake. Your thoughts have taken over your awareness. You keep seeing a big fat cheesburger floating around for some reason. You are thinking about that $500 Visa bill that just came in the mail. Or you can't get that freakin "All the single Ladies" Beyonce song out of your head. Or your new lovers' face has just appeared on the butt of the person in front of you.
WAKE UP!
Take control back. As soon as you realize you are thinking instead of yoga posing - YOU ARE AWAKE! All you have to do is be aware that you are thinking, and then you step back into the drivers seat and can put all your energy into your practice.
There are many tricks of the meditation trade to wake you up.
Here is a fun one -
Close the POP UP screen baby!
You know those annoying POP UPS on the computer - when all you want to do is find out the latest information on your sexy star crush - and a big fat bunny pops up on the screen trying to sell you fur remover -and you can't find the freaking X to close the pop up and you feel like bashing the computer screen with your 5th Chakra...
I digress
Anyway -
Your thoughts are like pop ups! So, when you catch yourself thinking in yoga - or anywhere - WAKE UP - then put that thought on a pop up window - and mentally click on the X to close the pop up screen - and let it disappear from the centre of your forehead.
Then - if another pop up comes (thought) - just keep clicking the close X button!
Click the screen closed of the face of your love - the person that was mean to you, your obsession for cheesburgers, the checklist for your grocery shopping, the darn tootin Beyonce song...
Put them on the pop up screen of your mind, click the X...
and move on to AWARENESS of the PRESENT moment and your wonderful yoga practice.
Close the pop ups!
Wake up...
Peace
