Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny. -- Upanishads

Trying too hard?

Do you try too hard? Are you agressive? Are you hard on yourself? Do you push and push your yoga pose so much that it loses the intention for sweet balance?
Signs that you try too hard -
- After a yoga pose you are frustrated.
- You have pulled something, sprained something, or twisted something in yoga class.
- You scream after a yoga pose is done.
- In your yoga pose - you can't smile even if someone gave you a million bucks.
- You feel angry that you can't contort your body into a pretzel.
Maybe it's time to soften your practice.
Breathe and smile.
I know that some days you are in hot class and want to rip the teachers face off with your teeth if they don't stop talking - BUT
What if you backed off the yoga pose sometimes? Go to the edge of doing your best, and don't go past that edge. Just enjoy.
If you try too hard - you will lose the essence of the yoga pose. The harmony you are trying to create of mind, body and spirit.
Find peace in yoga and your practice will grow.
And then - just maybe, you can take some pressure off yourself in your life when you are off the yoga mat and on your other journey.
Peace
Andrea
