Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny. -- Upanishads

So you are in cobra pose, and then all off a sudden you are in CAMEL pose - and you can't remember even getting there!! You don't remember the last 5 poses, and you just realized - "There's a teacher! And other people here! ---- "What have they been talking about??" "How long have I been oblivious to everything around me?"

I am a yoga teacher, but guess what - I have been in that situation during my practice.

Sometimes monkey mind happens - when your thoughts take control. Or - you are so involved with "feeling" your body and breath, that you get in the zone, and it becomes a meditation.

That zone thing is WAY better than having too many thoughts (monkey mind) while you are in the practice.

If you are thinking about that party you have to go to, and all the stuff you have to buy for it...If you are thinking about that bird that crapped on your car this morning and you just washed it...If you are in love and can't get them out of your head...and so on, and so on and so on...

All these thoguhts are taking you AWAY from your practice. You are not there - SO YOU ARE NOT SAFE. How can you be safe if you aren't listening to what your body needs for the pose?

Even if you are one of those advanced bendy gumby legs over your head pretzel people. If your thoughts are taking you away - you are not connected.

Now - on the flip side...if you are really paying attention to EVERY BREATH - engaging ALL YOUR MUSCLES - Flexing and contracting your CORE strength - sucking your belly button into your spine to protect your back - noticing EVERY single movement your body is making EVERY SECOND of your practice ----

Well my yogi friend - then you are in the zone, you are meditating while practicing, you are connected, you are exploding into a new level of conscious yoga lovin!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then, in that case - it is perfectly fine to ignore your yoga teacher.
(For exactly 5 seconds only - then after 5 seconds you must look into their eyes and make them feel like you really love them.)

      Peace
      Andrea
