Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny. -- Upanishads

Yesterday I ate 1 hour before practicing a 90 minute hot class. (Really smart) It was a small chicken wrap, and I really "thought" I would be fine. As the class started, my stomach started gurgling. Oh boy.. Then, some air pockets started forming and getting bigger and working their way up my throat and wanting to come out my mouth. Oh brother.
All because of one little wrap? Are you freakin kidding me?

So, you take your hot yoga classes, you also work your butt off, you like to spend time with your peeps or special person, you have big goals and a vision. BUT - You are not getting enough sleep, you eat crap food, you don't stop to breathe, you aren't getting fresh air and you just told the car in front of you to F off in a fit of rage. Does this sound like BALANCE to you?

When you are in hot yoga trying to balance, and the sweat is dripping down your face, drip, drip, drip...on the floor...OOPS, there goes your focus - "ARRGHHHH...I fell." Have you stumbled, jerked, twitched, or even fell right on your butt in a balancing pose?
There are a few tricks. The first is before you fall, to bend the standing leg, then get your balance and straighten the leg again.
Second trick is to direct all your focus and energy and breathing to one single focus point, and keep your focus on the point for the whole posture.
